This week we put our final touches on our Pecha Kucha. This is a time consuming project, but unlike anything I've done before. As I continue to work on this project, I'm trying to think of some ways to use this either in the classroom or for presentations to my peers. Any ideas? With all this being said this really puts all of the "zen" qualities in place that we have learned thus far - pictures, minimal text, short, not reading from the slides, and story telling. I'm curious besides voicethread, what would be some other programs that this could be creatd in?
My group is looking at iMovie and Moviemaker. I'm looking forward to hearing about the other programs. I know about some of them, but others I've never heard of.

ReplyDeleteI liked how you were pondering the application of the Pecha Kucha in the classroom. I like its concise nature, but I too wonder when and where to use it in the classroom. As a math teacher, I was thinking that it might be a good idea to use the Pecha Kucha to introduce vocabulary terms. However, this idea is still in its infancy. Regardless, I agree with you, shorter and too the point is better.
For my Pecha Kucha I made a presentation to tell the 5th graders what we are going to learn in math during the 5th grade school year. I used the learning targets, what projects we are going to do, and what supplies they will need to be successful in math. However, I started by introducing me. Maybe you could do something like that within your own classroom?
ReplyDeleteTammy,
ReplyDeleteNow that you've had a chance to look at iMovie and Movie Maker, do you see the potential for using it in the library setting??
I have also been pondering how I could use this in the classroom; I think that some lessons may lend themselves better than others. Anywhere that a story could be told, this program would be a definite asset. Subject like English, Reading, Social Studies would be a little easier but math and science (more analytical) may pose some problems. I will have to be more creative to make the story aspect come out of the Pecha Kucha.
